Joanne is Brock Lesnar (the story behind the video)

I made this video with Kurt Pellegrino when I was in New Jersey filming with him and his family. Some people find the video hilarious, and others don’t. I guess it depends if you are a Brock fan or not. There seems to be a clear division on the message boards about Brock…you either love him or hate him. Most of the hate stems from his after fight antics. Personally I feel that his behavior was a little uncalled for and his after fight interview was distasteful. I know that he apologized during the press conference, but who really watches that except the hardcore fans. The average viewer, who in most cases already thinks that MMA is a sport of meatheads, watched Brock display the kind of behavior that in my opinion hurts the sport. Yes, there are other fighters who trash talk and get the fans all riled up before the fight, but with Brock it was different.

MMA is a great sport and there are some amazing fighters out there who are trying to prove to people that this is a legitimate sport. Some of these fighters have college degrees, are well spoken, and are great role models. I feel like I have to explain this to people who are new to the sport because they just think that every fighter is a “stupid meathead caveman” (to quote my old roommate). I’m not saying Brock is stupid or a meathead in anyway, but his after fight antics (flicking off the fans that pay your salary, calling out Bud Light, and telling the fans you’re going to get on your wife) just reiterated to the general public what they already think about MMA. He has so much attention placed upon him and so many people are watching him, I can see why some fighters are worried about the image of MMA.

Do I think that Brock is an amazing athlete? Yes. Am I scared of Brock Lesnar? Hell Yeah!

Love ya,
Joanne

I'm a blogger for FightMagazine.com!

I'm making a blog about a blog. Yes that's right. I would post it here on my own site, but I really want you to go to fightmagazine.com and check out my writer's section. My first rant is about MMA attendees that boo at fights. This is a great opportunity for me and I am very thankful to Fight! Please check out their site, click around, and if you have a few bucks to spare subscribe to the printed magazine because it really is the premiere MMA source.

Ultimate Fight Night in Tampa with Joe Lauzon

Wow I didn't realize that it has been so long since I've written a blog. When I read that the UFC would be coming to Tampa I was happy, and then I saw who would fighting and got super excited. UFN 17 was a stacked card and the fights definitely delivered. I started my filming journey on Friday and headed off to Tampa early in the morning. I live about an hour and a half away so the drive wasn't too bad. I met up with Joe Lauzon at about 10:30am at his hotel and chilled with him and friends for a bit. At 11:30 we were off to a local gym so that Joe could cut weight. Tracy Lee of combatlifestyle.com came along as well and snapped some awesome pictures. Joe and his guys all headed to the sauna, while Tracy and I hung out outside of the locker (they wouldn't let girls in the sauna area). All the fighters were cutting weight at the same gym, so it was pretty cool to see them. I spotted Matt Hughes, Robbie Lawler, Luigi Fioravanti, and Jeremy Stephens. Joe was actually sitting across from Jeremy in the sauna...pretty intense.

Ultimate Finale Predictions

So the news last night with Jesse was pretty interesting with him getting kicked off the show and out of the finale. The thing that I don't like about the fights being three days later is that I don't have time to make a prediction video. On top of that I'm sick and have no voice. I'm trying something new with this cheesy text video so at least you have my picks. I'll be filming my UFC 86 and Affliction event videos this weekend before the TUF finale and I'll have them up Sunday or Monday. Enjoy the free fights on Spike TV this Saturday night!

UFC 84 trip recap

Hey Everyone!!

Well UFC 84 was fantastic!! I arrived in Las Vegas late Wednesday night and I spent most of Thursday prepping for the interviews at Xtreme Couture and Cobra Kai. After squashing my nerves I finally set out to Xtreme Couture. The gym is amazing! Really cool. I interviewed Gina Carano, who was super sweet. I was so nervous, but she put me at ease. I also interviewed Tyson Griffin. The really cool experience was watching them train.....
